Compound

SNARE-mediated fusion requires the coiled-coil assembly of syntaxin, VAMP, and SNAP-25 domains. Short peptides derived from those domains can interfere with assembly, which is what makes fragment analogs like SNAP-8 useful as mechanistic probes. Published work applies them in in vitro fusion assays and dermal cell models. Because activity depends on competing with a full-length protein, concentration and system conditions matter considerably, and results are strongly context-dependent. Supplied as a research reagent.
