Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide based on the ACTH (4–10) fragment with a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro extension that improves enzymatic stability.
Notably, the fragment lacks the corticotropic activity of full-length ACTH, which is what makes it useful: researchers can study peptide effects on neurotrophic signaling — including reported changes in BDNF expression — without confounding adrenal-axis activation.
