KPV is the C-terminal tripeptide fragment (lysine-proline-valine) of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone.
The fragment retains reported anti-inflammatory activity in cell models while lacking the pigmentary activity of the full hormone, which is exactly why it is studied: it separates inflammatory-pathway effects from melanocortin receptor-driven pigmentation in experimental systems.
